Some of you may have noticed recently a new member sign on as Qsefrus.
I feel it our responsibility to tell you that Qsefrus has been banned.
He was using several different IP address from all across the globe: Vancouver, Berlin, California, DC.....
This was the first red flag and was enough alone for him to be banned.
Second, everybody please notice Qsefrus spelled backwards is Surfesq.
Coincidence? Maybe. You make the call.

I don't think it's about being a man or not...hence my 'screen name' not being my birth name. I thought 99% of us used 'fake ids'.

AI... use of anonymizer IP's is permitted on some boards and not on others. My experience in several places as a mod is that 99% of the time it is someone looking to cause trouble and disrupt the community. Furthermore...it makes a mockery out of banning a troublemaker. I think it is a good decision for the community that anonymizer IP's not be tolerated. One should not sign up on a board if one does not trust the admin and mods to protect any personal information of "non-trolls".
That said...individual ID's have never been required here and I'm sure Alex did not mean to suggest that we can't hide behind our boat names or whatever other ID we go by. I think he really means that we need to be GENUINELY who we purport to be... not some scammer pretending to be a north dakota sailor living in an RV. Look at all the time people wasted welcoming that idiot here and trying to make him feel welcome. We should tolerate that? I vote NO.

He was seen by me, I ran a quick chck on the IP, guess who it was?
Smackdaddy...he just doesn't know when to quit..just goes to show...fortunately, we have ways to see things.
Another quick check and he has no less than 12 different IPs

Yep. If he did in fact attempt to log on with a new username while spoofing his IP and then later was caught out on his real home IP then yes, he deserves a public outing and a kick in the nads... I figure that if I get flicked, then "F" the site I got flicked from. They just ain't worth my time... That's why ya didn't see me jump on the "stuff" threads. Their loss....
Ok, after seeing the actual IP readouts, I concur that Smack and this other user were the same. Spoofing IP's with the intent of logging onto and trolling a forum that has banned you is NOT cool and is in it's own right a valid reason for banning on ANY forum I've ever posted on. The only bit I have issue with is the continual sniping at the banned member. In this instance it was a valid consequence of his actions. Having said that, how many here went back or attempted to go back to stuffiminto under false pretenses to continue the battle with Herr Sully? Well???? Regardless, I think it's run it's course.

I have been a member since early on and have done some sailing and enjoy it. I hope to own a sailboat but maybe running out of time ( age 68) I have no dog in this fight and enjoyed smack but if he broke the rules of this sight he should be banned.

It's strange. I make my living in IT. Only time I modify my ip is to test security on a client (very rare but I can think of a time or two) and - yes i confess- to get BBC feeds that are restricted to brit ip's and that (though debateable as to ethics and legality) is to watch the occasional program i cannot recieve in Canada.
Of course my desense there is to point at Canadian and American television
