Default Boat Recipe's - Simple one pot stuff

Carried over from the AS Pub, I thought it would be a good idea to have a central place for those simple one pot meal's that work so well on a underway boat.
Nothing fancy here, just simple, hot and filling meals for sailors with limited facilities and time.

    I'll start.
    10 minute 1 pot "Dumper".

1 pork or turkey Kielbasa, sliced diagonal or as rounds, 1/4 thick chunks. Fry in large pan. Do not drain.
1 10oz can of Diced Tomatoes with seasoning (garlic and basil, chili, whatever); drain and dump into skillet
1 10oz can of yellow corn, drained and dumped into skillet
1 or 2 packages of Uncle Ben pre-cooked rice (flavored, long grain, yellow - what ever you got) dump it in there.
Hot sauce or Worcestershire sauce to taste, whatever, stir and heat for a couple of minutes.

Dump it into a couple of bowls, add spoon and go eat.

You can change it up by adding peas, switching corn for peas, adding sliced potato's, or just about anything else at all.
The corn adds important crunch to the texture, I'd not recommend leaving it out without adding another 'crunch' veggie, or crackers etc..

    Boat Breakfast!

This mornings delight is Garbage. We call it Garbage because thats what it looks like when you are done. My mom's recipe. Handed down for years in Indiana farm country.

Brown off some bulk sausage. Remove sausage from pan and leave grease. Add sliced potatoes, diced green peppers and onions. Cover and cook till tender. Add sausage back in. Then add beaten eggs 2 per person. cook till eggs are done. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and serve.

Soak corn in the husk in salt water, after breaking off the stem to allow better soaking. BBQ the corn in the husk. When they are cooked, take them off and throw on baked potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil. (Corn stays hot during this time, since the now-dry husks make great insulators.)

Open a can of your favorite soup. Peel the label off (so it doesn't burn). Please directly on stove on very low heat. Remove from heat and either pour into a bowl or eat directly out of the can, with a spoon. Add salt and/or pepper. Potatoes and Corn are served with lots of butter.

Not a big fan of doing dishes. When solo I keep it very simple. When kids and/or guests are around we use the bowls. When my wife is around she cooks up other, less simple meals.

Welsh Teacakes in a frying pan.

Mix 1cup flour,1 egg,1/4 cup sugar,1/4 cup of butter or margarine,1/4 cup of raisins or

currants and enough milk to make a dough then add 1 tsp baking powder.

Drop biscuit sized portions into a hot buttered frypan and flip when side down is brown.

Shut off the heat and let sit until cooked through.Yummy and quick!

Had to quit making these as they are too easy and my weight is bumping 200.

Bilgewater's quick & dirty fresh bait feast

    1) take your cooler to a fish processing operation and have them fill it with fresh crab bait.

    2) Add some fresh mixed stir fry veggies that come in a bag to a large fry pan and cook until about half done. Take some of the bait out and fry it up in the same pot with olive oil, ginger and lot's of fresh garlic.

    3) Steam some rice, slice up a lemon or lime and open a jar of "chili paste with sweet basil leaves".

    4) Go catch some crab with the rest of the bait.

    5) Pick up an eight pack of "Lucky Beer" and give it to the guy at the fish processing shop.

Do you know how that "bait" costs here in Toronto!!!!!

One of my cousins was a river fishing guide out in BC and would occasionally send me the good stuff (mmmmm, steelhead) if I begged for it or took him musky fishing.
